Research and creation in residence
Casa de Velázquez
Casa de Velázquez
A model of hybridity where research and creation live in residence
Since its foundation in Madrid in 1928, Casa de Velázquez has opened its doors to researchers and artists from around the world. It is an institution where heritage and innovation coexist harmoniously; a benchmark for Hispanic studies, the humanities and social sciences, as well as for contemporary creation and cutting-edge curatorial practices; a living house, open to others and resolutely attentive to the world.

Residents 2025-2026
Each year, Casa de Velázquez welcomes two groups of 17 people: artists in residence from the Académie de France in Madrid and scientific members of the École des hautes études hipsaniques et ibériques - EHEHI.
These promotions are joined by other residents, both artistic and scientific, who join the residency as part of a wide range of hosting arrangements. As a result, a community of over 150 people meet, share, exchange and nurture their practices at Casa de Velázquez.
