The networks and partners who support Casa de Velázquez play an essential role in the realization, development and diversity of its projects. The wide range of collaborations reflects the crossroads between research and creation, between France and Spain, which is the essence of the institution.
Academic, institutional, cultural, local or international, from the oldest to the most recent, these numerous partnerships nourish a diversified and innovative program, while anchoring Casa de Velázquez in the contemporary world and consolidating its place in the scientific and artistic fields.
The network of French schools abroad (ResEFE)
Casa de Velázquez is an integral part of the French Schools Abroad Network (Réseau des Écoles françaises à l'étranger - EFE), under the auspices of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space since 2011.
L'École française d'Athènes, l'École française de Rome, l'Institut français d'archéologie orientale du Caire, l'École française d'Extrême-Orient et and Casa de Velázquez together fulfill a triple mission of training, research and dissemination in the humanities and social sciences.
The EFE network enables the implementation of joint programs and the sharing of best practices, particularly in terms of research dissemination and digital humanities.
¡Viva Villa! a network of French artist residencies
Since 2016, another network - this time artistic - has been set up around ¡Viva Villa! a major initiative highlighting French artist residencies abroad.
Casa de Velázquez, the Villa Kujoyamathe Villa Médicisand, since 2023, the Villa Albertineare pooling their strengths around a production support fund and a program of events, with a particular emphasis on post-residency support for artists.
The Network of Institutes for Advanced Studies
Also in 2016, we joined forces with theAutonomous University of Madrid that Casa de Velázquez signed an agreement for the joint creation of the Iberian Peninsula's first advanced study institute: MIAS - Madrid Institute for Advanced Study, which welcomes some thirty international researchers each year.
A cutting-edge study center in the humanities, social sciences and law, which today enjoys full recognition in the global academic panorama, has been admitted in April 2019 and December 2020 respectively as a full member of the prestigious networks european Netias and worldwide UBIAS.
The Academies: long-standing statutory partners
Ex-officio members of Casa's Board of Directors, the Academies participate in its Scientific Advisory Board (Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, Académie des sciences morales et politiques) and its Artistic Council (Academy of Fine Arts).
The Académie des beaux-arts supports Casa de Velázquez in recruiting and monitoring artists, through annual funding and by making their exhibition hall, the Pavillon Comtesse de Caen in Paris, quai de Conti, available each year for an exhibition of artists in residence at Casa de Velázquez.
