Spaces
During their residency, artists are provided with facilities dedicated to creative work, tailored to their needs. These include individual studios, shared studios dedicated to photography, music, or engraving, and a library. They also stay in a place where historical heritage meets everyday life, a unique setting that is worth preserving, while enjoying communal spaces that encourage interaction and community life.
Support for residents
A multidisciplinary team works alongside residents on a daily basis to support them in their projects and help them broaden their professional prospects.
In addition to this personalized support, the team is responsible for organizing the annual program of the French Academy in Madrid.
Professional meetings, events open to the public, projects in collaboration with the scientific section... The year of residence is punctuated by highlights aimed at promoting the work carried out within the institution.

The production assistance fund
Since 2021, the Casa de Velázquez production assistance fund has been supporting artists in the development and implementation of post-residency projects. It aims to support ambitious productions carried out in partnership with external cultural organizations (museums, galleries, publishing houses, festivals, producers, etc.) and to enhance the visibility of both the artists and the Casa on the international art scene.
¡Viva Villa!
Supported by the four major French residences abroad, ¡Viva Villa! co-produces around ten public events each year that showcase the work of artists graduating from the Casa de Velázquez, as well as a major professional day.
This program facilitates the post-residency transition by promoting the artists' work in various cultural spaces throughout France.
