Support for research projects in 2026 at the MIAS-Madrid Institute for Advanced Study

As part of their support for international mobility, CNRS Sciences humaines & sociales and Casa de Velázquez are offering researchers, teacher-researchers, and research engineers from research units supervised or co-supervised by the CNRS assistance for conducting research in 2026 at the MIAS-Madrid Institute for Advanced Study.

Terms

The grant is intended to finance missions lasting between 3 and 9 months during the 2026 calendar year. It covers all disciplines and all types of research missions (international collaboration, fieldwork, consultation of sources, project development, collaborative writing of books or articles).

The stay is co-financed by CNRS Sciences humaines & sociales and Casa de Velázquez, in the form of a monthly allowance equivalent to €2,000 notified by the CNRS to the affiliated UMR, broken down as follows: €1,000 provided by the CNRS and €1,000 provided by Casa de Velázquez.

The researcher is free to choose their place of residence on the Iberian Peninsula. They may request accommodation at the Casa de Velázquez, subject to availability, but will be responsible for the cost of their stay. Travel for research purposes elsewhere on the Iberian Peninsula will be at the beneficiary's expense.

During their stay, the "resident researcher" will participate in the scientific life of the MIAS and will be part of the scientific environment of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Casa de Velázquez. The candidate will be invited to contribute to the activities of the scientific community: conferences, tutoring of doctoral students, seminars, etc. The research project must be based on the scientific areas of focus of the Casa de Velázquez.
