Presentation
The process of settlement of the American country is one of the most interesting aspects of the Modern Age history. The extensive geographical scale in which it is developed and the brief temporary process itself makes the settlement of the Spanish and Portuguese America one of the more important fields of scientific research for the knowlegment of the city history in the West and it is a scope of study that as a whole, it is practically unapproachable.
Although this subject has been studied a lot of times in general and in a panorama mode and also it has been able to do a large number of complementary meanings of local and regional geographic source or with a temporary meaning more specifically, in fact there are also several urban experiences which are unknown, there are few known or our information is discontinuous about what has happened in lots of regional areas and, of course, it is possible to progress quite a lot in the field of the history of typologies as, although the Hispanic patterns are so powerful in all the continent, it has been developed local nature conditions more specific and chronological stages in order to be able to carry out readings in detail. In this context, one of the scopes of higher interest for the investigation it is the study of the colonial settlement during the XVth and XVIth century, from the stage called «early colony» and which belongs to the first Spanish settlements in the different regional areas in the American Continent.
In order to direct and strengthen the different mechanisms of scientific cooperation which would allow the development of activities to be taught and research projects in the mentioned field it has been set up the «Red Iberoamericana de investigación del urbanismo colonial [RII_uc]». The proposal to create this network which is already in the process of extending to other University Institutions of research, begins with the initiative of three universities: the Universidad de Piura (Peru), the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Argentina) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), and one of their first actions is to start up the International Workshops [RII_uc], for the meetings of specialists and researches in the field of urban development history and about the historical city in Latin America.

Communication's proposals
During the sessions of this international workshop it is foreseen the presentation of oral communications. It is possible to present proposals about the programmed subjects in the four sessions which will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. The selection of them will be carried out by a system of anonymous revision by the members of the international scientific committee, according to the concern, quality and opportunity of the proposals presented.
The date for presentation of proposals of communication is Friday, the 14th of September 2012 at the latest. The scientific committee will publish the list of accepted communications Friday the 28th of September, 2012. The definitive texts will be given, for its publication in the minutes of the workshop, before the 30th of October, 2012. The proposals will be sent in Spanish, Portuguese or English, and by e-mail, in digital file .pdf or .doc, indicating the title, the author or authors, three key words and a summary of 500 words. It is necessary to indicate the session in which you wish to show the communication and it should be enclosed with a brief curriculum vitae of 100 words approximately, of the author or authors. The definitive texts of the accepted communications which will be included in the publication of the minutes of the workshop, will be sent in digital form (files in word form .doc) to be published in Spanish, Portuguese or English, and they will be preceded by a summary in English (300 words) with a maximum extension of 15.000 words and even enclosed with eight images selected (files in .tif or .jpeg form), with its corresponding legend. All this documentation (files of text and images) will be sent, recorded in a CD-Rom to the workshop organization's secretary in the settled dates.
