Presentation
This workshop is organised in the framework of a National Investigation Project of I+D+I about a subject of special relevance for all the member States and associated Countries in the European Union, secularism and religiousness: tendencies and manifestations. The secularizing trends, in its political, social and cultural dimension provide, nowadays, a framework of coexistence and conflict in the legal-political area of the rule of law. The main subjects of analysis and debate will focus on:
I. The several secularizing trends and its different religious beliefs and practices. Historical interpretation
II. The traditional religions face to the secularism phenomenon. The plurality of its mutual relations in the multicultural societies
III. Duties of the rule of law and public policies in the relationship between religion and secularity
IV. Social and cultural characteristics of the religions in Occident
V. Social, cultural and political movements in the Islamic space face to the secularism phenomenon: diversity and tendencies
The social, historical and legal dimension of these problems requires an interdisciplinary meeting workshop in which it would be possible to debate the possibility of starting up a convincing European project that could permit the study of this subject and could provide strategies and public policies.
