Academic background

Doctor of History and Civilization at the University of Paris VII (1983), he worked at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud from 1983 to 1989, and the University of Reims until 2003 as Lecturer. Empowered to direct research in 2001 (titled: "For a comparative history of political symbols in the Far West "), he is a professor at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, and professor of contemporary history at the Institut d'Etudes Iberian.

Current Research

His research focuses on commemorations and memory practices, policies and symbolic international cultural relations in a comparative perspective. He published a book in 2003 on the celebration of Hispanic entitled: Celebración de la Raza: una historia comparativa del 12 de octubre.
