Academic background

Associate of History (1986), former member of the School of Advanced Hispanic Studies (Casa de Velázquez, 1990-1992) and Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (1994-2005), he held the position of Director of Studies (Modern and Contemporary) at the Casa de Velázquez, 2005 to January 2009. Since then, he is Professor of Modern History at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis.

Current Research

His PhD (1994) and its subsequent work have mostly been focused on urban history of colonial cities, particularly the city Manila. As consequent the preparation of an authorization to conduct research supported in 2003, his research focuses on the history of the colonial administration in the Philippines in the last century of Spanish rule . Moreover, his research in urban history or history of the administration and the lessons he has had to dispense familiarized with the historiography of European settlement (and American for the Philippines).
