Access conditions

The library welcomes people doing academic or professional research (from first year of Master degree). The registration is free by presenting an identity document and a passport photography. All new readers must register with the librarian at the entrance of the library upon arrival.

If you don´t fulfil the conditions, you can apply for a special temporary authorisation at the welcome desk or through this mail : inscription@casadevelazquez.org

After the registration, all collections of the library are in open access (including periodicals) at the exception of the rare and ancient books reserve.

Borrowing Books

Loan documents is only allowed for :

1 - Scientific and artist members, hosts and staff of Casa de Velázquez.

2 - External readers : teacher-researchers and postgraduate researchers living in the « Comunidad de Madrid ». The loan quota is 5 items for one month.
 

Borrowing entitlements :

  • Identity document
  • Valid professional identity card
  • Proof of home address less than 3 months old in the « Comunidad de Madrid ».

Loan term must be respected. Any delay leads to a suspension of the loan for a period equal to the delay time.

Books out of lending

The following items are not available for loan :
 

  • Old and rare books
  • Books published before 1950
  • Big sized books
  • Reference books
  • Periodicals
  • Damaged books
