From September 2020, the MIAS will welcome Margarida Barroso (ISCTE-IUL), who just obtained a two-years individual post-doctoral Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship (2020-2022).

Project: GEMILLI –Gender, Migration and Illiteracy. Policy and Practice for Social Integration
Scientific supervisor: Carlos Giménez Romero, Senior Lecturer of Social Anthropology, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

Supported by the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS) within the framework of a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual fellowship, Margarida Barroso’s project intends to provide evidence on policy and practice developments for the social integration of migrant women with low literacy in Europe. Considering the present migration context and the intersections of gender, migration and illiteracy, Margarida Barroso proposes a comparative and multi-scope analysis of policy and practice between old and new immigration countries, taking France and Spain as case studies.

This project, funded by the European Commission, benefited from the Support Platform for the setting-up of European projects of Casa de Velázquez and MIAS.

In order to support the candidates it will present for the MSCA Individual fellowship 2020 programme, Casa de Velázquez will issue a call for individual pre-applications from 15 March 2020 to 31 May.
