Since the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS) was jointly created by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Casa de Velázquez in 2016, it has been consolidated through the expansion of its network of collaborators and the diversification of its reception arrangements.
As the first Institute for Advanced Study in the Iberian Peninsula, including the Spanish-American area, to be recognised by the European network NetIAS (Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study), MIAS aims to strengthen and internationalise research, principally in the fields of Human and Social Sciences, through the establishment of a policy of inviting high-level researchers. From this academic year, MIAS offers researchers different types of residencies, in accordance with their availability and their professional circumstances.
