Selecting members of the School of Advanced Hispanic and Iberian Studies

Candidates must possess a Master 2 or other qualification considered equivalent by the selection board and must not be more than forty years old on the date of selection. Once the candidates' records have been examined, they will be interviewed by an admissions board in Paris. There are three boards: one for Ancient and Mediaeval, one for Modern and one for Contemporary times. The board concerned will pass on the results of its deliberations to the Casa de Velázquez's Scientific Council, which will determine the list of successful candidates to  be submitted to the Minister for appointment.

Candidates' proposals, whether as part of a PhD thesis or a programme of post-doctoral research, must be appropriate for the School's purposes. Candidates must demonstrate the need for a sojourn at the School's headquarters in the Iberian Peninsula.

Members who are civil servants will be placed on secondment and will retain their positions in France. During their stay at the School's headquarters they will receive their maximum salary at a rate of 590. Members who are not civil servants will receive the salary of a level I professor. These emoluments are subject to the usual withholdings of social security, and pensions in the case of tenured incumbents. In addition, members will receive a residence supplement, and where applicable the single income supplement and family allowances.

Members will be appointed for one year, renewable for one, or exceptionally two, further years.
